Biography

Salomon Gerber was born in the city of Bienne, Switzerland.

He is the only deaf person in his family, grew up with French sign language through his family.

From a very young age, they played imaginary games with his younger brother, often. When their friends came to their house, he was bored and had an idea of performing in front of them. Since that day he become a performer.

At the age of 10, his first experience in performing in a play was in the 'The house of Father' (La maison du Père) they had the role of an Egyptian with the company: Musical comedie of Chrysalide.

The same year, he was already a member of his school theatre group. They wanted to study theatre after finishing school, but it was too expensive as he needed interpreter access. It was frustrating. 

They was able to juggle between amateur theatre and the short films he wrote, directed and performed with his childhood friend. A short film "005 Clear File" was selected for the Festival Clin d'Oeil 2015 (Reims, France).

He has also learnt many languages through travel and being involved in communities. They has also lived in Glasgow (Scotland) and Toulouse (France). 

​

In 2018, he learnt that there was a sign language theatre school in France. There they began to study with joy. In June 2020, Salomon obtained a university degree in Visual Performance Art in Sign Language, and continuously seeks to develop the techniques of choreography and musical theatre with the sumain language (e.g. French Sign Language, Auslan).

​

Since 2020, he came in Sydney then 2023, they moved in Melbourne with her wife Danni Wright who is also an performer and artist.
